Leopard Solutions vs Firm Prospects vs Counsel Contacts

Two enterprise incumbents, one self-serve challenger, compared honestly.

If you are choosing a BigLaw attorney intelligence tool, two names come up first: Leopard Solutions (rebranded as SurePoint Legal Insights after SurePoint Technologies acquired it in 2024) and Firm Prospects. Both are serious enterprise platforms with deep data and predictive analytics, sold through a demo and an annual contract. Counsel Contacts is a third option built for the buyer neither of them targets: the solo or small-shop legal recruiter who needs clean BigLaw contact data without an enterprise commitment.

This page compares all three using public information, and it is honest about where each one wins.

Leopard Solutions vs Firm Prospects, head to head

For most buyers the real question is not whether to pick one of these over Counsel Contacts, it is which of the two incumbents fits better. They overlap heavily, both offer broad attorney coverage, predictive analytics for lateral moves, and separate tooling for the firm side and the in-house side, but they emphasize different strengths.

Coverage and data depth. Firm Prospects advertises the larger raw database (500,000+ attorneys versus Leopard's 400,000+) and leans on employment-history depth, more than ten years of moves, plus alumni tracking across firms and corporate legal teams. Leopard emphasizes over two decades of accumulated data infrastructure and firm-level competitive intelligence. If your workflow is tracking where associates came from and where they land over time, Firm Prospects' history depth is the pitch. If it is firm-level intelligence and lateral leads, Leopard's is.

Entry access. Firm Prospects is unusual in offering a free tier for individual attorneys and law students who verify an academic or law-firm email, useful for candidates and career offices. Leopard does not advertise a comparable free entry point; access starts at the enterprise tier.

Backing and roadmap. Since the 2024 acquisition, Leopard sits inside SurePoint's legal-technology suite, which may matter to buyers who value integration with practice-management tooling. Firm Prospects remains a standalone product focused on attorney intelligence. Neither publishes recruiter or firm pricing, so in both cases expect a sales call before you see a number.

Both are strong products for large legal search firms, BigLaw business development, in-house talent mapping, and law school career offices. For those buyers, the feature depth justifies the enterprise pricing tier.

Where Counsel Contacts fits

If you are a solo legal recruiter or a small-shop firm of two to ten people, the calculus changes. You need accurate BigLaw attorney contact data to do your job, but the enterprise contract structure of both incumbents puts the tooling out of reach. A typical engagement with either requires a sales call, a multi-thousand-dollar minimum, and an annual commitment before you can even see the recruiter-facing product.

Counsel Contacts is built around the opposite assumption: you should be able to see the product on a 7-day free trial, pay $199 a month if it works for your practice, and cancel from your settings page if it does not. The data is focused on the firms where lateral candidates actually work, with continuous updates from each firm's own attorney directory and coverage expanding over time. We do not ship predictive analytics, alumni tracking, M&A intelligence, or student-facing tools. Those are real capabilities, they are just not core to a solo recruiter's sourcing workflow, and you should not have to fund them to get clean contact data.

Pricing transparency

We publish our pricing on the homepage. $199 per month or $1,910 per year (a 20% annual discount). The 7-day trial includes 300 contact exports and does not require a credit card commitment beyond standard trial mechanics. There is no annual lock-in on monthly plans.

Neither Leopard Solutions nor Firm Prospects lists recruiter or firm pricing publicly. Firm Prospects offers a free tier for individual attorneys and law students, but recruiters and firms considering either product should expect a sales call before pricing is shared.
